Makeup Haul - First Impressions

The other day I was in the cosmetic section at Target. I had no intention to buy anything but I just thought YOLO and this happened...

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Pure Pigments - Buff & Tuff & Downtown Brown (AU$11.95ea)
When first applied, colours are very flattering on the eye and easy to use but within an hour or so, the colour faded quite a lot. (I always use Mac Paint Pot in Painterly to prime my eye lid because my eye shadows fade and crease quicker, due to having an overhanging lid.) So even with some sort of primer underneath they still faded! The colour may last longer if I use my Nars Eyeshadow Base underneath, but to be honest I shouldn't have to prime my eye lid.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Stick - Bulletproof Beige (AU$12.95)
My Initial thought was soft, creamy and easy to apply. Colour wasn't as intense as I thought it was going to be but it is called 'beige' so I guess its supposed to look beige not gold-ish - like the packaging would suggest. (Darker colours may be more pigmented) It didn't do anything for me on its own, so I used an eyeshadow over top, which did intensify the colour of the eyeshadow and made it last a little longer throughout the day.

Maxfactor Colour Elixir Gloss - Polished Fuchsia
Personally not for me as I am not a gloss gal, but why did I buy it? you may ask.. The girl on the advertisement was wearing one and it appeared to look like one of those highly pigmented, super glossy lip lacquers every make up brand is coming out with. But I was wrong - its just a lip gloss. (False advertising, I guess?) The formula is very good though, not sticky at all and it does have a good amount of colour for a lip gloss. But not enough colour for me, unfortunately!

Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad - Smokey Brun (AU$14.95)
Probably the best and most affordable eye shadow purchase I have made for a long time! First off, the colours are all super easy and wearable, whether its all four at once for an intense look or one or two shades for a 'slap on an out the door' look. They have the perfect level of pigmentation - build-able and easy to blend. I am really keen to try out other colours from this range!

There is a reason why I don't normally go out and buy a bunch of things I haven't researched.. Because there's usually only one gem amongst a few duds.. = wasted money. If I could turn back time I wouldn't pick up the Maxfactor Colour Elixir gloss & Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Stick. But the Maybelline pigments are average & I still was curious to try them and the Rimmel Glam Eyes quad, like I said I want to try more. :)

Hope you enjoyed my first impressions!
Have you found any gems lately?!
